I'm a (sorority student attending a mid-western university) and I just wanted to thank you for making an incredible impact on my life when you came to speak at my school last semester.

Last night I was raped by an acquaintance after he slipped me a date rape drug. I woke up at his house at 6:30 in the morning completely naked and without any knowledge of where I was, what had happened, or how I had gotten there. I eventually got home, and I was absolutely embarrassed, ashamed, and blameful of myself. I didn't want anyone to know about it, but then you immediately popped into my mind and I knew what I had to do. I told my mom and dad, they immediately took me to the hospital to get a rape kit done, and I reported the incident to the police. State troopers have already obtained a great deal of evidence, and because I told someone and got tests done, I will have hard evidence against my rapist. Although the experience has been traumatizing, I feel much better that I was brave enough to do everything correctly and that the perpetrator has a good chance of going to jail for at least 5 years.

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being such an amazing influence on my life. Honestly, if it weren't for you, I probably would have kept it all to myself and slipped into a great depression. I'm sure I am not the only girl whose life you've saved, and I truly hope you take comfort in knowing that.
